

Born in Ridgewood, New York on June 24, 1937, the son of Herman and Louise (Hardecker) Cordes. Raised and educated in Forest Hills, Queens, New York. He met and married Patricia Rabbito on December 11, 1960. Richard drove Trailways buses (long distance and charter) while in New York.
He and his family moved to North Miami Beach, Florida in 1971, where they raised their two children. For nearly 20 years, Richard worked for the Dade County Transit Authority. Following his retirement from Dade County, he and his wife purchased a Winnebago and traveled through 49 states, which they enjoyed immensely. In 1994, after his brief retirement, he purchased Pinch A Penny Pool Patio Spa franchise in Pembroke Pines which his family ran until recently. He loved interacting with the customers and considered them his friends.
In his spare time, he and his family enjoyed traveling to their second home in Long Key. He spent three months in the winter there with his sister and brother-in-law and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a huge Marlins and baseball fan.
Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia (Rabbito) Cordes, devoted children, Richard H. (Kendi) Cordes, Jr; Debra (Buck) Benton, his adored grandchildren, Keith and Kayleen Cordes and his loving sister, Carol (Bob) Hollander. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Bernard Rabbito and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Sunday, May 7th from 10:00 A.M. ~ 2:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. Funeral Service and Celebration of Richard's Life at 4:00 P.M at The Bridge Church, 9300 Pembroke Road, Miramar, Florida. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 3:00 ~ 4:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Entombment will take place on Monday, May 8th at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Mausoleum 3001 North 72 Avenue, Hollywood.
