

The funeral service will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 12:00 PM with entombment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens. Visitation be held at 11:00 AM.
Bob was born in Rochester, NY on June 19, 1940. He was married to Connie Gjertsen on May 4, 1960. Connie was the love of his life and they were happily married for 59 years.
Bob began his career as a firefighter in 1966 at North Miami Beach Fire Department as one of the original first responders in the United States of America. He retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant after serving 30 years with Metro Dade County Fire Department.
He was an amazing athlete and participated in the annual Police and Fire Olympics for many years. During his tenure, he earned more than 125 medals and trophies for the track and field events he competed in. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and organizing the family christmas tree lot. Most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Bob is survived by his wife Connie, four children (Linda, Patti, Robert Jr, and Kim), Brothers Thomas and William, eleven Grandchildren (Chad, Bobby, Jaimee, Katie, Bobby, Robert III, Brad, Lyndsey, Melissa, Alex, and Courtney), and nine great-grandchildren (Andrew, Brianna, Mackenzie, Ryan, Carly, Casey, Emelyn, Jenna, and Hailey).
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Verna and Leo; brothers, James and Fred and Kyle, his grandson.
