Sarah Kittinger Tabor, known as “Sally Ann” when she was growing up in Alderson, WV, passed away on June 26, 2020 at home with her daughter Tracy and caregiver Anna. For the past six years, she missed him terribly. Sarah and David met at American University and were married at Chevy Chase Church in Washington, DC on October 10, 1953. As the story goes, before they married David changed his political affiliation from Republican to Democrat, and Sarah converted from Baptist to Lutheran, just so they would never fight about politics or religion. Now they are back together again, and still not fighting.Sarah and David enjoyed traveling. Many of their adventures included cruises to Europe, the Caribbean, South America and many more exotic locales. Sarah enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, listening to Audible® Books and challenging her daughters and friends with “Words with Friends.” When she was younger, she enjoyed writing, sewing and swimming. Sarah also wrote several novels though they remained unpublished. Brideswell, a story set in her hometown Alderson, WV, was her favorite.Christmas holidays with Sarah were always memorable and joyous. Sarah baked Oslo Kringle from a secret family recipe each Christmas morning, and her family will miss that very much. A small secret about Sarah, something most people didn't know: Sarah still believed in Santa Claus!Sarah had a long, distinguished career as a Library Scientist, cataloging books and manning the Research Desk helping students at various schools. Many students thought of her as a surrogate Mom because she was so caring and compassionate. During her career she worked at the University of Central Florida (when it was still called FTU), Rollins College (Winter Park, FL), St. Thomas University (Miami, FL), and finished her 40-year career at the Law Library at NOVA University (Davie, FL).Her recent caregivers, Tina, Anna and Carleen, took wonderful care of her while keeping her company and comforting her. Tina Ortega became another daughter to Sarah throughout the years, entertaining her for hours on end playing cards and cooking eggs just the way she liked them.Sarah will be interred with her beloved David in Alderson, WV at a later date. Sarah is survived by her three children: Tracy Lynn Tabor (Davie, FL), Paula Tabor Pease and her husband, Sheldon (Altamonte Springs, FL) , and their daughter Emily (Austin, TX) and Pamela Tabor Bonnette and her husband, Rodney (Herndon, VA).“Losing our Mom is the hardest thing we have ever had to bear, as she was the heart of our family and we will forever miss her.”Due to COVID-19, there will not be a service at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Plantation, FL, where Sarah was a member.
