Sean Richard Forskin was born to Winston and Eleanor Forskin in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1968. He has one younger sister, Tracy Forskin-Seaton. Sean was educated at Saint Hugh's Preparatory School in Kingston, where he served as the goalkeeper for the school's football team (soccer), which was coached by his father.
From childhood, Sean was a person loved by many; he made friends easily and was the one who made every activity fun. He excelled academically, and at age 11, he took the Common Entrance Exam, which determined which high school a student could attend. He achieved top marks on the exam and was accepted into his first choice, Jamaica College. However, he did not get the opportunity to attend Jamaica College because, in 1979, at the age of 11, his family left Jamaica for America.
While living in Queens, NY, Sean attended PS-37, PS-34, and IS-09, where he continued to excel academically. When the family moved to Long Island, he attended Lawrence Road Junior High School and Uniondale High School. He remained close to many of his childhood friends, many of whom are here today.
In 1984, Sean's beloved father passed away suddenly, an event that affected him for the remainder of his life. After high school, he attended the State University of New York (SUNY), Nassau County. After one semester, the United States Marines recruited him. Following his time in the Marines, he joined his mother and sister, who were then living in South Florida.
He continued his education in Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSAc) at Florida Memorial University, followed by a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) at Nova Southeastern University.
Sean loved Jamaica and returned to live there twice. He worked as a university professor and in various management positions. Upon returning to Florida, he pursued his passion for driving eighteen-wheelers. His love for driving began in early childhood; his father, a rally racing driver in his youth, shared this passion. Sean spent much of his working life driving eighteen-wheelers and teaching others how to drive them.
He was passionate in his love for family and he was an avid domino player, football (soccer) player, cricket player, scuba diver, and traveler. He loved to drive. He found great delight in watching sports and debating current events.
In 1998, his only child, Ayanna Shawn Forskin, was born. He loved her dearly and was immensely proud of her. In 2017, he married the love of his life, Pauline O'Keefe, and they spent over 20 amazing years together. Sean could be often found in company with Pauline, Sujen and Roy playing dominoes and ludo until the wee hours of weekend mornings. On Sunday nights, he could be found at Blue Martini enjoying music and dancing. On Thursday nights at Tropics he relished singing Karaoke ("Tennessee Whiskey"). Every Sunday morning, when in town, Sean could be seen riding his bike on Hollywood Beach. Sean loved the open road and often would be found in company with his wife, Pauline and grandchildren in the back seat on road trips to wherever the next adventure would take them. Sean was singularly interested each year in celebrating his wedding anniversary their most memorable of which was their trip to New Orleans in 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; his mother, Eleanor; his daughter, Ayanna; step-daughter, Dr. Stacy-Ann Thomas, her husband Dennis and their children, Morgan and Dennis II "Prince"; his sister, Tracy, and her husband, Douglas; their children, Darien, Bailey, and Douglas II "DJ"; his mother-in-law, Barbara; his nephew Kimali; in-laws, his beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will be missed and always remembered with joy and love.
