
Hinckley, Jr., The Honorable Harry Glenn, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida passed away on Monday, August 4, 2008 at his residence. He is survived by his beloved wife Suzan Hinckley, son William P. Hinckley of Glendale, California, daughter Erin H. (Larry) Demarest of Fort Myers, Fl, and stepson Todd S. (Wendy) Rowand of Albany, Georgia. He leaves three grandchildren Will Hinckley, Dylan Demarest and Hunter Rowand. He was predeceased by his son, Harry Glenn Hinckley III, his brother Paul (Lillian) Hinckley of Jacksonville, Florida and sister Betty Kennedy of Miami, Florida. Harry was born on January 14, 1928 in Miami, Florida to Gladys Tucker and Harry G. Hinckley Sr. He graduated from Miami High in 1945 and joined the Navy until 1946. He also served in the Army from 1950-1951. He completed his undergraduate degree at Stetson University in Deland, Florida where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He graduated law school from the University of Miami in 1955. He joined the law firm of Wicker Smith in Miami in 1955, and was a partner of Wicker, Smith, Blomquist, Hinckley and Davant until 1964. Harry later joined Eugene Fischer in forming the law firm of Fischer and Hinckley and was later the Senior Partner of Hinckley, Shores & Hill. He practiced over twenty years as a trial lawyer in South Florida and then was appointed to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit by Governor Bob Graham in 1980 as a Circuit Court Judge. He spent the next twenty years on the bench before retiring. Upon retirement, he also served as a Senior Circuit Court Judge. Harry was a member of the American Bar Association and was recognized by the Florida Bar Association as a member of 50 years. He was also a member of the Broward County Bar Association. He has been recognized in the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership, was a member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club, and was the first President of the Rio Vista Property Owners Association.
