

Walter was born on October 17, 1944, in Highland Park, IL, to the late Wilson Lutz Sr. and Jean (Smith) Lutz. He was married his loving wife, GinTze Lutz (Wang) on March 26, 1971, in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. This year would have been their 51 year anniversary. Walter served in the United States Army for 21 years. He spent 27 months in Vietnam, 1 assignment in Taiwan, had 4 station assignments in Germany, and 2 assignments in the United States.
He was an U.S. Army Radio Specialist and was qualified with the M1 carbine, M14 rifle, M16A1/A2 rifle, M60 machine gun, M1911 pistol, and the M79 grenade launcher. He received National Defense Service Medal, Army Communication Medal, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, RVN Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/7 SYC Stars, RVN Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Meritorious Unit Citation, Overseas Service Ribbon W/3, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Bars.
After retiring from the U.S. Army, Walter joined Tracor Marine., a major North American defense contractor for the U. S. Navy, in Ft Lauderdale, FL, for many years.
He was surrounded by his wife, GinTze and his sons, Robert Andrew Lutz and Walter Andrew Lutz II. His daughter Elaine from Vietnam, who had only in recent years found him, but had that time stolen by the pandemic protocol, also came to see him right before his passing. His granddaughters, Anastasia Sophia Lutz and Makayla Madison Lutz, also spent time with him in his final moments. His 3 year old granddaughter Avonlea(Avea) was unable to be there, but wished him well through videos. He is survived by those mentioned above as well as his sisters, Francis, Judy, and Jane, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers William and Wilson "Ruddy" Jr., also his sister Jeannie.
A private memorial viewing for Walter will be held at a later date.
