There will be a private service with Bill’s nephew, Sean Brannon, of Transforming Life Church officiating.
Bill was born in Richlands, VA on December 31, 1952 to Vernon Lucado and Agnes Rutherford. Bill grew up in Tazewell, VA where he was a member of the 1973 Class of Tazewell High School. Later on that year he moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he would later meet his wife Jeannette on a blind date. Five months later, on May 30, 1980 they were married and spent 41 happy years together.
Bill worked at BellSouth from February 1974 until November 1997 when his job was outsourced. In May 1998, Bill received a life-saving liver transplant and was able to spend an additional 23 years with his loving family.
Bill enjoyed N-scale model railroading as well as Amateur Radio and he belonged to several radio clubs in South Florida. When a Tropical Storm or Hurricane approached, you could always count on Bill to be at one of the shelters where he was the line of communication between the shelter and the Broward County Emergency Operations Center. Bill also enjoyed manning one of the bridges each year during the Winterfest boat parade. He also was very involved with the testing of candidates interested in becoming Amateur Radio Operators.
Bill is survived by his wife Jeannette Lucado; daughter Patricia Shepherd (Timothy); son Nicholas Lucado (Francesca); granddaughters Cheyenne Lucado and Shonda Gillespie; great-granddaughter Za’Kayah Hawthorne; sister-in-law Judy Seaman (Barry); as well as nephews, nieces and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Judith Kelly.
