To David,Susan, Sam and Kay,

While searching for the obituary of a dear friend of mine, it occurred to me, that I hadn't heard from Anna in a long time. She would would call Iowa many times a year to find out how Lynn and I were doing. She would inquire about our garden (walnuthillgardens.com)was doing and how the Hawkeyes were faring. Anna had taken care of Ruth, Lynn's mother, and nursed her until the very end. That was in 1980! She kind of adopted us. Lynn regarded her as a second mother. Anna would send birthday and anniversary cards to us.  We, in turn would send her flowers for Mother's day and Christmas. On December 29, 2014 Lynn unexpectedly died of a severe case of pneumonia! We had been married for 48 years!! Anna called in January. She had not received Lynn's annual Christmas card with its accompanying newsletter with all our yearly activities. Anna was of great comfort to me and helped with the healing that I needed!  When Anna called, she would relate all her family doings. She was so proud of her immediate and extended family.!  So, twice in a week, I am deeply saddened by the loss of two gentle souls.

Henry Guy was my mentor, Anna was his strength and love. He loved to talk of giving her American Beauty roses. I will miss this couple, and look forward to seeing them when I go to Heaven.

Though I never knew her I know the Kniskerns. Their loss leaves a hole that can never be filled. But from her obit and comments, I can tell she was a blessing to all who knew her.

Kay, Chip and all the rest of your family.. We will so miss being there to celebrate the beautiful faith filled life of your dear Momma,Kay since we are in Boston. I am so blessed to have gotten to know her better on my many visits to your home these past 6 years. She leaves such an amazing legacy to all of you! Praying for you as you grieve but knowing she is in the presence of Her beloved Savior and husband gives such hope comfort and peace that passes all human understanding!

My sympathies to Anna's family/friends in your loss of her.  May the God of all comfort (Psalm 83:18) give you strength to cope during this time of mourning.

So thankful that Anna was able to attend the Hounshell family reunion a few weeks ago. As always, she was the center of attention with her board games and quick wit. We will miss the birthday and anniversary greetings that she sent to us without fail. We love you, Aunt Anna. Say hello to all of the Hounshell family members that welcomed you into Heaven.  What a reunion that must be!

Today, the world is a lesser place for me and countless others who had the honor of knowing this incredible woman of God. Among my life's greatest blessings, is to have been adopted into this beautiful family and to be lovingly mentored by someone I'm proud to call my 2nd Mom.  Truly, she has heard her Savior's words: "Well done, good and faithful servant."  Afterwards, I envision her Henry waiting patiently for her with a single rose in his hands. Welcome home Mom.

What a tremendous loss for our family and for the Guy family in particular.  What a wonderful, CHRISTIAN lady.  She will be greatly missed by all.  Our family reunions can't ever quite be the same without her and her smiling face.  Will certainly miss her thoughtful cards with all the Guy family updates. My sympathy to all of the family. I have fond memories of a busy wife & mother who made time to know her children's friends and the youth of the church. She even hosted slumber parties! May the celebration of her life bless all of you!

The extended family has dramatically changed, but Anna and all of her siblings will be close by in our hearts. Our memories and love for Anna will be as bright as the stars that glow around her now.  My sympathy to my cousins, David, Wes, Sam, Susan and Kay.

Aunt Anna, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten!  Thanks for the memories.

My deepest heart goes to David, Susan, Sam, Wes, and Kay as well as each extended family member.  We each have a set of lifetime memories based on our relationship with Anna.  She left a unique legacy guided by her relationship with God.  She is rejoicing with her Savior and loved ones who welcomed her to Heaven.

Anna was absolutely the best mother-in-law a woman could hope for and from the moment that Sam introduced me to her, she welcomed me and made me feel like we had known each other for years. 

I have a lot of wonderful memories of Anna, but my favorite is from the time when I was a newbie to the family.  It was during the very first family reunion I attended in Myrtle Beach.  Sam and I had just married a few months earlier and I was meeting a lot of his family for the first time.  Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, but I was still a little nervous and unsure of myself.  One morning I walked by Anna at the beach house we were sharing and she simply reached out to grab my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze, along with a wink as if to tell me without saying a word that I was welcome and loved.  It immediately gave me a warm and comfortable feeling.  As I walked away with a smile, I suddenly felt something in my hand that had not been there before.  I looked down and opened it and lo and behold, cradled within my palm, sat the empty wrapper from her peppermint candy.  That's when I knew that I was absolutely, 100% part of the family. 
 
I will miss her charm and her kindness that was coupled with a no-nonsense strength and capability.  We are lucky that she was with us as long as she was to shape all of our lives.

Thanks Mom, for everything.  See you before too long.  Say hi to Pop for me.
