Anthony Joseph (Tony) Koski, age 93, died on Monday, July 20, 2020 at home after a short illness. He was born in Erie, PA on April 10, 1927 to the late Joseph and Josephine Guzowski Kociolowski. On November 21, 1951, he changed the family’s name to Koski.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sarah H. Koski of Birmingham, AL, two sisters Kathryn Haley and Sophie Reske both of Erie, PA along with a granddaughter, Sarah H. Stanfield of Birmingham, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years Mary Sisk Koski, sons Joe Koski (Suzy), David Koski (Nicki), daughter Laura Stanfield (Wayne) and stepdaughter Barbara Sisk. He leaves 8 grandchildren that will miss him greatly, Mark Stanfield, Jill Smith (Richard), Tim Stanfield (Laura), Scott Stanfield (Genta), Melissa Howell (Todd), Matt Koski (Allison), Patricia “PK” Koski, David Koski, Jr. (Stephanie) and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a longtime member of Homewood Church of Christ, WWII veteran, a Master Mason and a Lifetime member of the “700” Bowling Clubs of America. In 1964, he founded Koski Construction Co. Inc, which was passed down to his sons after he retired in 1997.
He loved to meet new and interesting people and was always willing to help anyone in need. He always had a story or joke to tell and had a great sense of humor. He instilled a positive attitude in his children, proud of each one and appreciated each of their different interests. If you ask any of his grandchildren, they will tell you he was the strongest man they knew. He was always teaching as he worked alongside each one.
The family will have a graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery on August 7, 2020 @ 2:45. Due to the Covid-19, facemask and social distancing will be required.
