Barbara Ann Benson, age 87 of Vestavia Hills, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. She was employed at Vestavia Hills Board of Education, where she retired after 19 years as an Administrative Assistant.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Lynn Benson, Sr. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her son Ernie Benson (Ellen); her daughters: Eve Smeraglia (Frank) and Debbie Lee; 8 grandchildren: Grant Benson, Ellie Benson, Frankie Smeraglia (Kayla) Casey Smeraglia, Lewis Parker, Stephanie Walker, Billie Lee and Tommy Lee, Jr. and her great grandchild Hudson Smeraglia. Mrs. Benson will be greatly missed by all that knew her. The family would like to send a special thank you and prayer for her friends Martha and Carlton Smith, you both where very dear to her and helped her and her family more than words can say.
The graveside service will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
