Barbara Spillers Grant

Barbara was born July 13, 1939. She was the daughter of Bonnie Spillers and Myrtle Alred Spillers of Moulton, Alabama. Barbara graduated from University of Alabama's Hillman Clinic School of Nursing on September 1960. In 1961 she married Dr. Charles P. Grant and resided in Vestavia Hills. An avid gardener, she appreciated and cultivated an interest in native plants of Alabama and supported the efforts of the Cahaba River Society. She was also a supporter of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, a member of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and the Birmingham Museum of Art. Barbara had a love for tennis, Burmese kitties and hummingbirds. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Lynn Grant, two stepsons, Charles James Grant (Karen), Thomas Roy Grant, three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and a brother Don Spillers and niece Beth Spillers. Time of visitation for Barbara will be Wednesday, July 3 from 9:30am - 10:30am at Ridout's Valley Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in her name to Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
