

Emily Barbara Cade Hunt, age 83, passed away on November 5, 2017. She was born on December 13, 1933 to the late Clarence D. Cade and Emily Bell Ingram Cade. Barbara married Harold Hunt on August 15, 1959.
Barbara graduated with honors from Huntingdon College in May of 1955 with majors in French and Speech. During the summer of 1954, Barbara studied abroad in France with Ohio University. During her senior year at Huntingdon, she served as Senior Class President and was elected to be May Queen. Barbara furthered her education at the University of Alabama as a scholarship student of Rhetoric and Public Address. Professionally, Mrs. Hunt taught at Samford University, Southeastern Bible College and Birmingham Southern College. She concluded her career as a private communication consultant for various companies and individuals.
Barbara received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savor at the age of 33, and her life was radically changed. She loved the Word of God and she shared the Good News freely. Barbara served on the board of Campus Outreach, a college ministry committed to the evangelization and discipleship of college students, as well as on the board of Cry for Africa, a ministry that fed, clothed and loved needy children in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Late in life, Barbara and Harold travelled to Zimbabwe where they were thrilled to minister personally to these precious kids.
Another favorite activity was Barbara’s participation in the Huguenots. She served as president of the Huguenot’s of Alabama for two years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Mary Clare Cade Hornak. She is survived by her husband Harold Hunt; her son Harold Lane Hunt, Jr. (Pryeska); her daughter Susan Ingram Hunt Ray (Kenny); five grandchildren: Ford Hunt, Emily Lane Ray, Elizabeth Ray, Cade Hunt and Haynes Hunt, and her brother C.D. Cade, Jr. (Jackie).
Graveside services will be at Alabama National Cemetery on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:15 pm. The family will receive friends at Church at Brook Hills on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Barbara Hunt may be made to global missions or foster care ministries at Church at Brook Hills, or to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama.
