Campbell is survived by his wife, Annette M. Blake; 2 sons, Stephen Campbell Blake (Ginger) and Scott Parker Blake (Allison); 4 grandchildren, Campbell Reeves Blake, Sullivan Hill Blake, Cole Parker Blake and granddaughter, Annette Elizabeth (Anna Lee) Blake. He is also survived by his brother, Preston Blake (Mary) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Janie Reeves and Benjamin Campbell Blake, Sr. and by his sister, Mary Jane Blake Brame.
Campbell was born and raised in Birmingham and graduated from Ramsay High School in 1952 and Auburn University in 1956. Upon graduation, he was an Ensign in the United States Navy and served for 3 years at Pearl Harbor.
Campbell worked for Rust Engineering and BE&K building paper mills around the country. He had many fond memories of the friends from those years.
Campbell became a member of Briarwood Church in 1971 where his life was changed by hearing the Word of God. He developed a deep love of God’s Word and loved to study, teach and share that word. He served as Elder and Lay pastor and hosted a Saturday Morning Prayer Breakfast for over 20 years.
In retirement Campbell’s favorite thing in life was to awake before dawn, get his Bible and his coffee and go swing on the screened in porch fellowshipping with God and the birds every morning. We are missing him but we are filled with peace and joy knowing that he is in Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10th, in the chapel of Briarwood Presbyterian Church located at 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, Alabama 35243.
