Bill GLOVER, age 84, of Talladega, Alabama passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021. Bill was born February 28, 1937 in Carbon Hill, Alabama. He is predeceased by his mother, Maudie Glover, and his sisters, Opal, Betty, Erma and Claudine “Tootsie”. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Ann Glover; his son Glenn (Jenifer) Glover of Homewood; his daughter Marilyn (Scott) Decker of Sylacauga; his grandson, W. John Glover; his granddaughter Whitney (Ryan) Lee Chiaramonte and great-grandchildren Gavin, Aria and Piper Chiaramonte.
Bill graduated from Carbon Hill High School in Carbon Hill, Alabama in 1955, when he joined the Air Force and served his country by providing maintenance, testing, diagnostics and repair of the electrical circuitry in nuclear bombs.
Bill worked for 40 years as a brick mason and his craftsmanship can be seen at many homes and restaurants in the Birmingham area, including his home in Talladega.
Bill spent many years coaching youth league baseball in the Dixie Youth Baseball League. He had an inquiring mind and knew something about everything. Known to all as an honest, hardworking man, it was widely recognized that Bill could fix anything. He took great delight in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved any kind of mind teasers, including jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and genealogy.
A visitation for Billy will be held Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
