

Cindy Gray Yeilding, 67, of Mountain Brook, AL passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2024. Born on August 11, 1957, Cindy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a beacon of love, known for her kind, caring nature and gentle spirit.
Cindy was raised in Florence, AL where she graduated from Coffee High School. She furthered her education at the University of North Alabama graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During her time at UNA, Cindy was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Upon graduating, Cindy moved to Birmingham, AL where she began her nursing career providing compassionate care at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. She later transitioned to UAB, continuing to touch many lives practicing nursing. During her time at Carraway, she met her husband of 40 years, Allen. In her later life, Cindy returned to work joining a fabulous group of friends at Gus Mayer. In addition to this, Cindy brought joy and beauty into the world through side jobs assisting in catering and floral design.
Cindy will be remembered for her compassion, kind heart, and generosity, which defined her as a person. She was an active member of St. Mary’s on the Highlands and was deeply involved in her church community. Cindy cherished her time at Lake Martin with her husband, family and friends. Swimming, reading books, and walking at the lake were sources of great joy and relaxation. There she also developed a love for horses that she fulfilled at Five Star Plantation riding the trails. She was a talented artist and her paintings will remain treasures to her family.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Allen; children, Christopher (Elizabeth), Frank Allen (Jennifer), Vivian (Alex), and Allen Jr.; grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Evelyn, Everly, and Katie; and her brother, Randy Gray (Mendy). She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Kenneth Gray.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's on the Highlands on November 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's on the Highlands Episcopal Church in her memory. Cindy's legacy of kindness and loving nature will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
