Ed Harris was an incredible pool player, a brilliant mind, and more importantly, a loving father and husband. He couldn’t go anywhere without making a friend, even though he described himself as a little bit shy. Despite his self-proclaimed shyness, his spirit shined a light on anybody that came in contact with him that let them know he was a friend. Ed loved his family more than anything in the world, going out of his way to make sure they were always provided for and more importantly, he always made sure they knew how much they were loved.
Ed started out in electronics going on to work for UAB, a workplace that he served for more than 30 years, rising to the position of Cloud Architect for Information Technology.
Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Lynne Harris, and his son Alex Harris, as well as his cats Aly, Bunny, Princess, and Tessa. He is also survived by his sister and brother in-law, Terry and Linda Cooper, and nieces Gabriella Cooper and Andrea Cooper. Ed’s spirit will also be remembered by his family on Lynne’s side, Margie Elrod, Carol Ledbetter, Brooke Hutchins, and Matt, Brittany, Braylon, and Kayden Green and also by his chosen-brother since childhood, Gary Ball, and Gary’s family.
A visitation for Ed will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
