

She attended Phillips High School in Birmingham. After graduation, she attended Birmingham Southern College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
On May 30, 1944 she married Bibb Allen and was his devoted wife and best friend for 63 years until his death in 2007. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Birmingham and Alabama State Bar Auxiliaries. She was also active in community service including the Birmingham Symphony Association, the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Women’s Committee of 100.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her two children, Bibb Allen, Jr. (Leslie) and Mary Louise Allen King (Chris); six grandchildren, Sara Emily Allen Clark (Paul), Allen King (Natalie), Leslie Allen, Lee King (Kelly), Wilson King and Andrew King and 2 great grandchildren, Bridger King (16 months) and Bibb Clark (5 months). She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Irving Plosser.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday June 27 in the sanctuary at Canterbury United Methodist Church at 4 PM, and the family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor and memory to First United Methodist Church in Birmingham or the Bibb Allen Honors Pre-Law Scholarship at Birmingham Southern College.
