ROY, ERIC MAURICE age 44, passed away June 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Maurice Roy. Surviving are his wife of eleven years, Brenda Eubanks Roy; his mother Trudy Karl Roy; sister Christine, brothers Michael (June), Brian (Eden), and Gregory; nephews Zachary Allen, Blake and Joseph, nieces Renee, Allison and Rebecca; Uncle Hans Karl of Germany and, Uncle Don and Aunts Connie and Elaine and numerous cousins.
Eric graduated from Homewood High School in 1987, where he was a successful football player and wrestler. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1993.
After graduating college, Eric lived briefly in Colorado and taught private school in Sacramento, CA before settling in Birmingham, AL. He served many years as the head cook and kitchen manager of Dreamland Barbecue in Birmingham.
Eric enjoyed traveling and hiking. He loved to play his mandolin and Navaho flute.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday July 6, 2012 from 4 to 7pm at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood.
