

Frank Wesley Davies, Jr., age 87 passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, having had led a full and active life. He served in the United States Army 89th Signal Corps during World War II and, afterwards, graduated from Auburn University. Owner and operator of Little Hardware for fifty years, he also enjoyed riding with the police for the Exchange club of Mountain Brook and leading the Explorer Scouts. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and on the vestry. While playing as a member of the No Name and Studs Dog Fights at the Country Club of Birmingham, he traveled with the Alabama Seniors and the Southern Seniors golf groups. An avid outdoorsman, he was particularly fond of hunting, fishing, golfing, and tending to the vegetable garden at his farm.
Mr. Davies was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wesley Davies and Anita Hart Davies, and by his sister Jacie Davies Benes. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Miriam Rew Davies; his children Beverly (William) Kyser, Barbara (Ralph) Quinn and Frank (Alison) Davies, III, his grandchildren: Townsend (Kelly) Kyser, Alison (Jerry) Sabens, Ashley (Scarlett) Kyser, Elizabeth (David Scott) Quinn, Charles Quinn, Garland Quinn, Wesley Davies, IV, Patrick Davies; and his great grandchildren Laura, Will, Sam, Mary Elizabeth, Taylor, and Martha Kyser, Bradley and Ashley Sabens, and Charles Cunningham; and his sister Anita Davies Cline.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in the Founders’ Room at 3:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service following at 4:00 p.m. at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church.
