Harry Stansel Corley, a long-time resident of Mountain Brook, Alabama, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. Born July 8, 1950, he spent his childhood years in Birmingham, Alabama, and Jackson, Mississippi, before his family settled in Leeds, Alabama at age 16.
Harry was a graduate of Walker College and Auburn University. As a licensed master plumber and gasfitter, he spent many years serving the Greater Birmingham area as a mechanical contractor. Harry served his clients with unwavering integrity and approached every home or business with the same care and respect he would his own. He was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and The Club. In both his work and his personal life, Harry was always ready to lend a helping hand and never met a stranger.
Harry embodied a life of adventure. In his teenage years, he loved riding horses and competing in horse shows. Some of Harry’s fondest memories were spent sailing, scuba diving, water skiing, and fishing at Smith Lake and Orange Beach. Harry acquired his pilot’s license at Auburn University’s flight school, dedicating numerous hours to recreational flying and skydiving. When he was not on the water or in the sky, Harry could be found exploring the outdoors. He had a lifelong love for marksmanship, regularly enjoying hunting and target shooting. After a day of pursuing adventures outdoors, Harry created his own in the family room, discussing history, telling jokes, or vividly recounting stories of his youth.
Above all else, Harry treasured time spent with his family. He and his wife, Theresa, shared a love for traveling the world for many years before welcoming their two daughters, Sarah Margaret and Catherine. Through family beach trips and weekends outside, Harry passed down his love for adventure and laughter to his daughters, along with the courage to face challenges with determination.
Harry was a loyal son, devoted husband, and a loving father. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Inabinet Corley and Bernice Brown Corley, and his sister, Emma Lizbeth Corley. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa Roebuck Corley, and his two daughters, Sarah Margaret Corley and Catherine Elizabeth Corley.
Funeral services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
