Hilda Mathews Kent

Hilda Mathews Kent, age 70 of Mountain Brook, was born in Brewton, AL on December 11, 1939 to Shelby and Charlotte Mathews. She was a graduate of West End High School in Birmingham. Hilda is survived by her husband Dr. Warren W. (Hoss) Kent Sr., brothers Murphy Shelby Mathews of Lansing, MI, and Jackson Aubrey Mathews (Michaela) of Nashville, TN, step sons Warren W. Kent Jr. (Lynne) and James R. Kent Sr. (Carla), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. She is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. Hilda worked as a bookkeeper at Snap on Tools, and later as Executive Administrator of Kent’s Animal Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Kent will be Tuesday Sept. 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ridout’s Valley Chapel. Pallbearers will be Earl Parsons III, Earl Parsons IV, James Squires, James R. Kent Jr., Eric Nix, Tony Kent, Brian Wilson, and Scott English. Honorary Pallbearers are the Friendship Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
