Irene B. Baker

Irene Ball Baker passed away on September 7, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born on January 20, 1927 in Mobile, Al to Albert and Katheryn Ball. Irene was proud to be a military wife who tirelessly followed her husband for 20 years across the world with four children. She was a faithful member of Huffman Baptist Church and an active member for many years of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Stuart M. Baker; son, Stuart M. Baker, Jr.; grandson, Anthony Maxwell Baker; her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Jean Ann Ulmer (Jerry) of Birmingham, AL, Mary Ellen Wilson (Bob) of Birmingham, AL, Katheryn Irene Snyder (Rusty) of Crestview, FL and daughter in law, Mary Ellen Baker of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 14 great – great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who all loved her very much.

Visitation will be 4-6 on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood. The funeral service will be 11:00 at Valley Chapel on Monday September 14, 2015. Burial will be 2:00 at Alabama National Veterans Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. Larry Smith will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
