Jack Howard Nichols

Jack Howard Nichols age 84, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012. He was born the son of Verlie Eugene Nichols and Charlie Inez McBee in Sayre, Alabama on 23 November 1927. Mr. Nichols is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan Russo Nichols, son Steven, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and brother Charles Mitchell Nichols. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Blake, brother’s Eugene, Jerry, Ted and sister Patsy. Mr. Nichols was a Naval Veteran of World War II and Korea, a member of the American Legion, Past Master Mason of Masonic Lodge 603, active in the Nation’s Space Race working on the Jupiter, Redstone and Apollo Missions 1-11, past president of both Alabama Restaurant and Birmingham -Jefferson Restaurant Associations, member and former general manager of Grayson Valley Country Club. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Wed, April 18 from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church Chapel on Thurs, April, 19 at 12:30pm. Burial will be conducted at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo at 2:45pm . The family requests memorial contributions be sent to “Brown Bag”, Canterbury UMC in lieu of flowers.
