Jane attended the Attalla city schools, Etowah County High School, Gulf Park College for Woman, and the University of Alabama, where she graduated with honors. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She always enjoyed watching Crimson Tide football and basketball games. Jane moved to the Mountain Brook area in 1954 and immediately immersed herself in civic activities where over the years she served in various leadership positions. She was a member of Tremont Garden Club, the Women's Committee of One Hundred, The Country Club of Birmingham, The Club, and her dance clubs: Harlequins, Gaities and Vanities. She also served as President of the Mountain Brook High School PTA. She taught school at Independent Presbyterian Day School for nine years. She was a long time member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and, along with her husband, created the Seekers Sunday School Class. Jane loved life. She especially enjoyed laughing with her friends, spending time with her family, playing bridge, and volunteering in many capacities, in particular at the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care. She was a wonderful, caring Christian servant sharing her time and wisdom unselfishly with others.
