Memories are nuggets of joy to be savored, which is precisely what I'm doing right now.  You and Jane graciously opened your home to Craig, me and our girls every Thanksgiving (and any other time we wanted to invade your space!) I am hard-pressed to think about  that holiday without remembering rainy days spent in the dining room of your home in Mountain Brook, watching the Macy's Day parade Thanksgiving morning, enjoying Jane's yummy culinary skills, long conversations and lots of laughter.  The two of you made this girl from Jacksonville feel very welcome and loved.

Dr. Nuckols, my deepest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your wife. I am often, as in this time, reminded of my relationships, and friendships, during the time of my psychiatry residency and staff assignment at UAB.  While it has been a few years, not so many that my admiration of friends, and mentors, cannot be recalled.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Aunt Jane, but I am thankful she is no longer in pain.  My memories of all of our times at your house are filled with warmth and love.  Y'all always made our visits special, from the Purple People Eater costume to dessert coffee in demitasse cups and long conversations over leisurely breakfasts.  I'm praying that God would give you peace and comfort as you grieve.  I love you dearly and my heart aches for you.

I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with the Nuckols growing up. This was something I would look forward to all year long. Aunt Jane not only opened her home to us but made me feel so welcome and loved.  I remember the wonderful meals she would make with love and feeling so special when she would let a 7 year old drink coffee from her fine china.  This was such a special time for me and created so many wonderful memories that I treasure.  Aunt Jane taught me a lot about being a hostess and sharing what God has given you.  These are things that I will carry on on life and pass on to my kids and loved ones.

There are only a few people in my life for whom I have as treasured memories of as I do of Jane Nuckols (my Aunt Jane).  From my earliest memories of Thanksgiving, our family would spend at the Nuckols.  Jane was the consummate hostess who always set the finest table for family celebrations.  This tradition continued until I headed off to college.
After I married and had a family of my own, I had the wonderful privilege to carry on our family tradition by bringing my family with our two daughter to Jane's house for Thanksgiving.  Jane offer a simple elegance that is rarely found these days.
My memories of family holidays are interwoven with memories of Jane Nuckols.  The imprints of her life and the joys she gaves us are embedded in my family forever.
