

Jimmie Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Paschal Schilleci, her parents Jack and Blanche DeMent and her sister, Jackie Allison. She is survived by her son, Keith (Leslie) Schilleci(Birmingham,AL), daughter, Kelli (Scott) Beisel(Nashville, TN), son, Kevin (Debbie) Schilleci(Lawrenceville, GA); grandchildren Aaron Schilleci, Carli (Cole) Kinchler, Zachary Schilleci, Blake Schilleci; great-grandchildren Ellis Kinchler, Abigail Kinchler, Lucy Kinchler; brothers Don DeMent(Betty) and Mike DeMent; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, many other family members and friends.
Jimmie Sue graduated from Bessemer High School where she met the love of her life, Bill. She, Bill and their three young children moved to New Jersey in 1965 where they lived for 8 years. They then returned south to Georgia in 1973 where they lived until Bill’s passing in 2023.
In addition to raising a family, Jimmie Sue had a fulfilling and successful career as a convention and meeting planner with the International Association of Financial Planners. Through her many years of work with the IAFP, Jimmie Sue developed many longtime relationships with friends and colleagues. Her career included extensive travels to most all the major US cities and multiple trips to Hawaii and to far away places as Europe and Australia.
Jimmie Sue enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge with friends and arts and crafts. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved cooking and decorating for holiday gatherings. Jimmie Sue was an avid Auburn University and Atlanta Braves fan. Her favorite time was spent with her and Bill’s family whom she loved and adored. Also special to Jimmie Sue were her neighbors and their children who she considered to be her extended family. She loved and was sentimental about red birds. She believed that when red birds appear, the angel of someone you love is near. Jimmie Sue will be mostly remembered as a selfless and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
A funeral Mass will be held on March 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church (in the Chapel) at 7340 Cahaba Valley Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242.
A reception at the Church will follow Mass.
During the season of Lent, flowers are not displayed in the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmie Sue’s memory, may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
