Dear Betsy, John and Bruce,
     I was deeply saddened by the news of Uncle John's passing.  I didn't know he lived and went to school in Cincinnati.  Cincinnati will now have an extra special meaning in my heart since my husband and I now live in Cincinnati.  I will miss his Christmas letters.  He was a wonderful man.  Our condolences to you and your family.

Dear Betsy, John and Bruce:  Have tried to send a message prior to this but it is not showing up in the guest book, so I'll try again.  Am so sorry to hear about your father.  He was a brilliant man.  Until this past year, I usually had a Christmas letter from him with family news....and sometimes critiques not necessarily favorable) of a Choral Group performance (a group I had directed and sung with for years).  He especially did not like our version of "Silent Night" and did not hesitate to say so.  I would try to keep the group from singing this one if he were to be in the audience.  

The Bird family were wonderful friends ad neighbors when we all lived on Guilford Road.  There are so many warm memories of time spent with all of you. even going back to the days with Grandpa Bird.  He was a delightful man..he and your mother both fun and merry people.

Dear Betsy, John and Bruce:  So many happy memories of being neighbors and friends of the Bird family when we both lived on Guilford Road....your mother and Grandpa Bird fun and always merry, your dad so brilliant.  Until this past year I continued to hear from your father every Christmas, letters filled with family news...and sometimes a critique of a Choral Group performance he had attended. which wasn't always favorable necessarily. When I was no longer directing the group, I would warn them not to sing that version if John Bird were going to be in the audience.

We just one heard of John's passing.  Bob and I worked the polls with John for 6 years.  It's a long day together and we enjoyed every minute with him.  He was a brilliant and interesting.  We will miss him!
