I just miss my friend. 
I can't believe it's been 6 years. I last saw you in Sept 2018 when you were in Lake Charles. We talked and laughed and hugged. You were always genuinely interested in how my life was going.  I miss talking to ya buddy.

Everyone loved Joe Tanory, including my sweet husband and me.  RIP Joe....

Joe loved people and people loved Joe. I was at Auburn with Joe on the football team. He  had such a passion for being an integral part of the team and he was an  part of the success due to his presence and the bonding that we shared because Joe was someone that everybody liked on the team. He and I spent hundreds of hours Bass fishing together. He loved bass fishing as I did and had a passion for it. I think of Joe always loved him. God bless him rest in peace.

We loved Joe Tanory!! What a wonderful person and great salesman. He made the world a better place.

Just now hearing of the passing of my dear friend Joe T.  Our Auburn escapades, partying on Wrights Mill Road, doing our FCA music gigs, and the joy he brought to my wedding party are just some of the ways his enthusiasm, humor, and love of life blessed me. Always cooking up something good in the kitchen, he fed everyone he was around with jokes, and tricks and something to see and maybe to buy.
Though he has been gone awhile now, he is alive and well with the Man he knew. I look forward to seeing him again.

Joe was life all wrapped up in one smiling bundle. I was with him at Auburn football. Everybody loved Joe.

It’s been two years since I heard the joy in his laughter, saw the smile in his face, had a phone call that went something like this:
“ Heeeeyyyyy Beautiful. You still beating the guys off with a stick?  
How are you?  
How are the kids?  
Let’s go to lunch. (Always meat and 3)
I invented a new piece of jewelry, getting it patented, I want you to see it. 
I made a ring box that lights up when it opens. 
I learned a new song. I want to play it for you. 
I listened to a motivational tape you would like. I’ll save it for you. Did you listen to the last one? 
I’m going to physical therapy and they are amazed at me. Doctors say I’m bionic. 
I have some new magic tricks. You aren’t even going to believe them. Can’t wait to do them for your kids. 
I’ve been talking to this Russian girl on the Internet. She wants to come see me. She’s beautiful. I’ll send you a picture.￼
Just saying hey and want you to know that I love you.”
The one and only Joe T filled my life with laughter. 
Gosh, I’m deeply thankful I was one of his many friends. 
He always made me feel like I was the only one.  
One of the best decisions I ever made was to name my oldest daughter “Tanory Ruth”for the two purest hearts I have ever known.

I was very heartbroken to hear of your passing. I have been trying to call you for some time now. I will miss our talk and that smile of yours. You had a heart of gold.

This season reminds me of Joe. He would always arrive from Thanksgiving break at Auburn with his trunk full of Deals. Toasters, jewelry, knife sets ,anything that we could purchase and give to family at Christmas. A smile on his face and a true friend to all

I lived next door to Joe and Suzanne Tannory from 1977 to 1980 while a student at Auburn and we became close friends. We kept in touch over the years and I stayed at his house while visiting for games and spoke on the phone many times. Joe was a wonderful and generous person. I often tell the story about he and Chris Everett's brother Drew inventing the Tennis Bracelet for her.  I fished in his pond at his home, and sure enough caught a bass on the first cast. I was saddened to hear of his passing just now and hope that this message is relayed to his family. He will be missed. Brian R. Toung, Daytona Beach, Fl.

I am so saddened to find out about Joe's passing. I have been friends with Joe since 1994 when I met him in Houston buying diamonds from our store. Spent time with him a few years later when I was living in Memphis. All these years we stayed in touch through our shared interest of horse racing. He would always call me on Kentucky Derby Saturday.  I believe that's the last time we spoke. I tried to text him today and wondered why he didn't respond. My thoughts, prayers and memories are with my brother Joe today. War Eagle buddy, till I see you again. I love ya man.

I met joe and he was an instant best friend! We had so many things in common. He taught me about jewelry and I enjoyed our talks we joked about his Mother could get out all the knots from my necklaces! What a fine Man we have lost! We have been friends for several years and it has been a pleasure!

Joe was one of a kind.  He would light up a room when he entered it.  He never met a stranger and always made a significant impact on everyone he met.  In my mind I will remember Joe as being a sincere, charismatic, and always a real gentleman with an awesome smile.  

One of the kindest people I knew during my Auburn days. Rest In Peace and War Eagle, my friend. May God hold you and all who loved you in His heart.

Joe T, President of the "No club". No way was this or that going to stop Joe from accomplishing his goals. It may take a lifetime but he was not going to take the word "no" into his life.
GOD has a special soul now and there are special places for men like Joe. Being "down" was just a phase, you were never down long around Joe. He would give you all he had if it made you happy. Never asking for something in return or burdening you with his troubles, Joe was always there to lift you up and tell you GOD loved you. Through Joe's hardest times he did his best to be a positive influence on your life.
Joe you will be missed by your friends and loved ones. The mold has been broken for Joe on this earth but he lives on with God and within our memories! Thank you Joe T ! 

Oh Joe. Oh no. Ohhhh no!  I've loved you since our freshman year at Auburn.  You were then & always will be simply the best of us.

I use to work for Joe when my husband and I moved to Auburn in 1988.  He was the best boss and loved his office girls!  He treated us all like queens and cared for us like we were his own family!  I loved my first job there and was so blessed to have had the opportunity to know Joe!  One of the best men I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing..  and who could never forget that homemade baklava his mom made!  Rest In Peace precious Joe!

God got a good one this past week. Joe is one those people in my life that truly stands out as a true servant and friend . A smile and a helping hand for everyone, what a great guy. 
Just think how happy God is to  have  Joe  up there with him. Can you image!  Joe's got the trunk of his car already  open and selling  God a new watch, and if God didn't ware a watch before Joe got there, he does today.

I’m so glad others knew , loved and appreciated the Joe I loved.

I just learned of Joe’s death today and my heart is broken. Joe was truly my best friend and confidant...true, loyal, and faithful.  He was my brother, not by blood but of the heart. I talked to him 2 weeks before he passed away and had no idea until I got home today he was gone.  I thank my  Lord Jesus for giving Joe the opportunity to be a proud grandfather. He was so excited! His family was his life.   At Auburn he would tell some of my dates that they better respect and treat me right or he would get “the family”  after them. That always made me laugh. When my daughter married, he made the whole bridal party plus me, beautiful matching necklaces and earrings.  They looked gorgeous at the wedding and we treasure them greatly because they are from Joe. Joe never gave up the fight, he always persevered no matter what and is a beautiful example for all of us that no matter what life throws at us, Jesus is always with us and we can keep our heads up, finding  joy and hope through Christ. 

Joe we will all miss your jokes, your humor...rest my friend.  May God bless your spirit. 

Joe always had a smile on his face and something to sell.  In fact, I think all my Christmas gifts were bought from Joe.  Thank you, Joe, for making sure Larry had gifts for me.  We had the honor of meeting Joe when he came to Auburn to play football.  We became immediate friends, and I often cooked dinner for him and others.  Joe never forgot.  When Larry was hospitalized for 2 weeks at UAB, Joe brought me flowers and a gift.  He said I needed it more than Larry, since I was the one taking care of him. He always thought of others.  I will miss Joe so very much but know he is still smiling and will always be in my heart.  Thoughts, love, peace, and prayers to the Tanory Family.

Joe had the most loving heart, kind soul, and he loved to make others laugh.  I recall many nights in high school sitting with Joe and his friends and laughing so hard.  Joe and his buddies had a great comic routine.

About 20 years after high school, a girl friend and I wanted to go to an Auburn game.  I called Joe, who I hadn't spoken to in years, to see if he could get us tickets.  Not only did he get us tickets, he insisted that we spend the night at his house.  Such a forever friend! RIP

Joe was a different breed of man, truly a “one of a kind”. If He was in you’re presence you would be guaranteed a smile and a better day. I’ve known Joe around 11 years, and I know he found joy in not only watching but impacting my growth into a young man. Joe always put others needs far in front of his. He was always a humble man and an idol in my life as I know he was in many others. Joe’s relationship with my family was like no other. You could always count on him to get on my mothers nerves, which I appreciated that. Joe has showed many what an honest love is. Joe was a very special person. We grew up together from grade school, through High School and has remained good friends through out his life. We would meet for lunch probably 2 days a week at M & M BBQ with Mike Shunnarah.  The world has lost a good one with the best heart. I have lost a very good friend and I will miss him dearly.

Joe Tanory never met a stranger and was always there for the good times and the not so good times. We were walk on's together along with several more and Joe made the hard time more tolerable. I know he is finally kicking for a higher team now. Love you Joe, and I know you are still smiling.

Joe always had a smile, wise crack and a trunk full of items for sale. A caring person , did not matter if you were a all American or walk -on. A motivator and true friend. 

Joseph was one of a kind. I couldn't ask for a better friend . My heart weeps without him here. We would talk at least 10 times a day, he was a blessing to my family and we will never forget you ! What a beautiful friend. When I first came to Auburn he captured my attention with his fun loving magic tricks, guitar playing, and crazy auctions, but his loyal friendship and devotion will be forever cherished more.  Our prayers are with the Tanory family. We will miss him too! We look forward to the day we meet again!

We been friends of the family for a long time. I even fixed him up with my friends years ago. What a great guy. Like my brothers just happy and loving heart always. I will most of all miss the gleam in his eye and the smile on his face. He told me he was on QVC as inventor of the tennis bracelet. Loved Joe Tanory and his smiling face. Will always remember the year he set up a display of items to sell at Coach Atkins house. I bought enough wedding gifts to last several years. He was always smiling, kind and made you feel like a million dollars. My prayers are with his family and friends. RIP Joe

Joe was ray of sunshine to all of us that knew this wonderful little guy.
Joe was a friend to all of the football players in the early seventies, and a successful entrepreneur with his Christmas jewelry sales.

At his frequent jewelry sales events , Joe would always show that big ole smile and laughingly say :

“this isn’t a barber shop , but you will get clipped”!

Joe will certainly be missed by all that were fortunate to have 

known him...

I lost my younger brother about 10 months ago. Joe called me and we talked for 30 minutes. He was being the great teammate and loving friend that he always had been. I hadn’t seen Joe in several years, but it was as if we had just walked off the practice field together. Thanks to a fine buddy!  Love and peace to Joe’s family. He was a “Dandy”!! 

Joe Tanory was a wonderful addition to the Auburn football family while I was there. He help to make bowl practice livable while we came back to an empty campus practicing for the Sugar, Gator, and the Sun Bowls in the early 1970’s.  I don’t know where he came up with all the Christmas items he had for-sale to us during those lonely sessions but we always had those things to buy when we couldn’t get out to shop for ourselves. Joe was always a friendly warm and good friend during my college football days in the old “jock dorm” Sewell Hall. 

Thanks Joe for your delightful auctions and funny stories you entertained us with while we all were away from home.  God bless you my old friend. 


I got to know Joe in our days together at Auburn. He was always happy and carrying on. And of coarse he would have at least one piece of jewelry in his pocket. 
Joe was very generous and kind. I have seen him pull a piece jewelry out and give it away. Once you became a friend you were always a friend. My greatest memory of Joe is the number of visits he made to see me while I was in the hospital when he looked as if he needed to be in a hospital bed too. But that was Joe! He will be missed by the many friends he made over the years. I am very sad. I love you dear friend!

Joe was a true friend. He looked after you when selling jewelry.  He will be missed. God got himself another good one. 

Met Joe on the practice field at Auburn in 1968. Joe liked people and he was quick to find out who you were. We bass fished together. He was a very beloved figure on the team and we all were often entertained by him. He made us laugh.
He had a loving spirit. These last years were hard for him and he would get discouraged but always got back up. Never give up was the Joe I knew. Stay positive and he did.

Joe will be truly missed. As a kid, he entertained us with card tricks at family gatherings. As an adult he entertained my girls by taking them to Chucky Cheese. I loved him so much. Rest in peace sweet cousin!

Our prayers are with the Tanory family.  We all loved and respected Joe, he always had a loving spirit. May God bless his soul. 

He had such a "razzle dazzle" and enormous charm.  Cheryl and I always looked forward to seeing him.  He will truly be missed. 

I was a fraternity brother with Joe at Auburn.He was always selling watches , rings and so forth out of the trunk of his car.Watches with fake diamonds were $25 dollars.  But they would stop working after a week or 10 days. Brothers who bought them would complain.
Joe would just say " What do you expect for $25?"  If any brother had family problems or stress in their life, Joe would sit them down and talk to them.

  After college  I went to law school and moved back home to Auburn.  When I opened my own law practice,  a truck showed up 
with furniture from Joe. He said he knew I couldn't afford a bunch of furniture, so he told me to take it off his legal bills. And I did.
Also when I was going to propose to my wife,  Joe sold me a big stone for a really good price. He also told me he was giving a good price because he wanted to make sure my wife didn't know I was a tightwad, and would accept my proposal. That was 34 years ago, and she is still with me.

I talked to him last week.   He was upbeat about his patents for his jewelry and having Bobby T do a video or info-ad  for the jewelry. And he told me about his surgery. I know he is in Heaven and is probably trying to sell St Peter some jewelry.



The tanory family took me into there life from day one when I got here.  Joe made me feel like I was part of his world.  I remember when I would go to there home to see Bobby,  Joe would make it a point to see me. My daughter and I made a commercial when we lived at fort Benning and he lived at Auburn and saw us on TV and he made it a point to call us and told all his friends that he knew us. He is a true friend. I will miss you Joe.


Joe and I went to grade school together at St. Paul’s. Joe was always fun and funny and sweet to everyone! He kept the nun’s on their toes!  Joe will be missed greatly!  Hope the angels in heaven are keeping up with him!  RIP sweet Joe!! Friend to all!
