Linda Kay Clements passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 18, 2025. Born on February 11, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she spent most of her childhood in Valley, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Scott Granberry and Edgar Herman Granberry.
Kay graduated from Howard College in 1963 where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She went on to earn an MA from the University of Alabama. After which she dedicated forty years to teaching, beginning at Shades Valley High School and retiring from Jefferson County Baccalaureate School, where she taught German. She was an active member of All Saints Episcopal for many years.
Her adventurous spirit led her on many trips throughout Europe and China, including many stays in Germany. After retiring, she joined an archaeological group from Samford University on the Shikhin Excavation Project just outside of Jerusalem, where she served as an integral part of their team on summer trips to Israel.
She will be remembered not only for her deep love for her family and friends and many accomplishments but also for the brand that was Kay: her Porsche Boxster convertible, floppy hat and sunglasses, impeccable sense of fashion, love of the fine arts, and opportune sense of wit.
She is survived by her son, David Clements, his wife, Margaret, and their daughter, Addie; her sisters, Emily Scarbrough (Tom) and Susan Lane; and loving nieces and nephews Susanna Scarbrough, Alex Scarbrough, Jessica Lane, and Joshua Lane.
A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
