Born September 14, 1940, in Mobile, Alabama, Bert was the son of Maurice Hulbert Rowell Sr. and Elizabeth Davis Rowell. He was a graduate of Murphy High School, Emory University and University of Alabama School of Medicine, and served in the United States Navy before practicing medicine, specializing in radiology, in North Carolina and Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Harriett Sumner Rowell; his three daughters: Ansley Elizabeth Rowell, Blair Rowell Hicks, and June Kristen Rowell (James Stanford Nix); and his four grandchildren: Jackson Hicks, Carson Hicks, Ava Nix, and James Nix.
The family will have a private burial in his honor.
