Mickey D. Hughes of Chelsea, AL passed away on March 19, 2015 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Mickey was born in the Bermuda Isles on December. 23,1957. He attended Caledonia High School, Class of 1975 and graduated from Mississippi State University with a BS in Agronomy. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career as Golf Course Superintendent at Green Oaks Golf Club and Columbus Country Club in Columbus, MS, Colonial Country Club in Memphis, TN, and Chase Lake and Altadena Country Clubs in Birmingham, AL.
Mickey is survived by his spouse of 22 years Sandy Hughes, three children: Trevor, Chris, and Claire, his parents Charles Kenneth and Hazel Hughes, his sister Pat Matthes, niece Kim Sheppeard, nephew Matt Matthes and four great nieces. He is preceded in death by his brother Rickey Hughes.
His family has requested a private family service. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be given to the American Cancer Society.
