

Nancy Lea Stauffer Myer, 85, of Birmingham, AL passed away March 1, 2019. She was born in Lancaster, PA to Robert H. and Sara Kennedy Stauffer and graduated from Wilson College. Nancy married her grade school sweetheart, John P Myer on Dec. 31, 1954. She moved with her family to Mountain Brook, AL in 1970. Nancy had a beautiful soprano voice and sang solos with her church choir at both Canterbury UMC and later Pell City First UMC. She travelled the world on numerous memorable trips with her parents, husband, sisters, children, and grandchildren and visited every continent except Africa. Nancy and John retired to Logan Martin Lake in 1993 where she served as President of the Anniston District United Methodist Women. Nancy and John loved antique cars and had one from every decade. They toured the country with the Antique Automobile Club of America, and she served as First Lady when John was National President in 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband of 62 years, and brother-in-law, John Griffith of Sarasota, FL. Nancy is survived by her sons, Jon Myer of Birmingham and Jeffrey (Millie) Myer of Montgomery, Al; 5 grandchildren, Leslie (Daniel) Crawford of Birmingham, Melissa Myer of Montgomery, Jamie (Jennifer) Myer of Franklin, TN, Jenny (Matt) Thomason of Montgomery, Colby Myer of Birmingham; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sally Bures of Lancaster, PA, Peggy (Dennis) Pilon of Lecanto, FL, and Cynthia Griffith of Sarasota, FL. A celebration of her life will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church Chapel on Tuesday, March 5th at 1:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. If desired, donations may be made to Pell City First or Canterbury UMC.
