

Pauline graduated from Duke University as a registered nurse and completed additional training in Wilmington, Delaware. She loved her career and served as a hospital nurse, visiting nurse, and industrial nurse. Her career included nursing at Lloyd Nolan Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Lloyd Nolan, and several years as head nurse for students at Mississippi State College for Women.
In 1940 she married Thomas E. (“Judd”) Walker of Eldridge, Alabama father of Barbara, age two. They had two sons, John Russell Walker and Thomas E. Walker, Jr. Pauline and the children traveled extensively during the summer months, living in many communities from south Texas to northern New York, while “Judd” travelled with H. C. Price Pipeline Company. In the winter months, she and the children lived in Birmingham where they were active in Ruhama Baptist Church. After the children were grown, she and her husband moved to Columbus, Mississippi to care for her widowed elderly aunt. After her husband’s death, Pauline returned to Birmingham where she became active in Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Union, and assisting with needs of the elderly of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son, John; her parents, John and Nellie Walton Aman; brothers George, Hedrick, Adrian, Cyrus, and sister Lucile Aman. She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Aman; sister-in-law, Romalda Aman, daughter, Barbara Jones (Ray) and son, Tom (Vicki). She leaves six grandchildren: Bill Jones (Stephanie), Rusty Walker, Tina Walker Freeman-Alch (Darren), Travis Walker (Jennifer), Justin Walker, Lane Walker, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Margaret Riser, Dr. Anthony Saway, Dr. Anuradha Rao, and Deborra Gardner for their many years of compassionate care. The family is also grateful to Mrs. Wade Sellers from the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church Homebound Ministries for her loving attention to Pauline for many years.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, August 24th at the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church chapel at 9:30 AM with a memorial service following in at 10 AM in the chapel. A graveside service will held at 4 PM at the Tucker cemetery in Eldridge, Alabama.
