Philip Jordan Yacko born on August 25th, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 30th, 2025, at his home in Opelika, AL. He will be remembered as a man who felt most at home in the great outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting deer and found true peace on the water, especially when he was launching his boat into local ponds with a fishing line in hand. Those calm afternoons and simple joys reflected the steady, content spirit with which he lived his life.
After many years of dedication and service, he retired from UPS. He was a proud graduate of Auburn University and remained deeply connected to his time there, especially through his involvement in the Sigma Chi fraternity. The friendships he built there were not fleeting college memories, but enduring relationships marked by loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. He cherished those bonds deeply.
He is survived by his beloved son, Rylan; his daughter-in-law, Becca; and the light of his life, his grandson Briar, who brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his cousins Karen, Bruce, and Johnny Sims, who will forever hold his memory close.
His legacy lives on in the memories made by the water’s edge, the friendships he held close, and the family who will carry his spirit forward. May he always have tight lines, gentle waters, and the peace he so deeply cherished.
The celebration of Phil’s life will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows in Homewood, Al on January 15, 2026. Visitation is from 10:30am-11:30am. Funeral mass will begin at 11:30am.
