Randolph Evans, Jr., was 78 when he lost his brave battle with Parkinson's disease on April 19, 2024 . His beshert (soulmate) wife Peyton and companion dog Pepper who he loved dearly were by his side. Randolph was born September 4, 1945 and raised in Bronxville, NY by Winton Peyton Bibb and Randolph Evans , Sr. He was the youngest of four and the only son. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Peyton Smith Evans, sister Peyton Bibb Evans (Key West, FL) nieces Sarah Ellen Thompson (Montgomery, AL) Emily Semple (Eugene,OR), Hannah Morgan (Canandaigua, NY), and Bibb Bailey Coyne(NY, NY) and his nephew Burt Price (Woodstock,CT),
Randolph was a member of the financial services industry in New York and Birmingham. He had a passion for mentoring intellectually challenged adults in his community. He and his Brucie enjoyed Pixar movies, Birmingham Baron games, pizza and coffee. He attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church and participated in Cursillo. Randolph liked his wife's MahJongg groups coming to play. Their loud laughter and lively conversation about a multitude of topics kept him entertained. Randolph was brilliant and unbeatable in the games of Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy. Choose a date on an old calendar years past and he would give you that day of the week . Yet he never read a book cover to cover except for The Godfather. He would say, "If my text books were authored by Mario Puzo, I'd have been a stellar student." His keen sense of humor and amazing power of recall provided family and friends with laughter and facts only found in an encyclopedia. His wonderful family's sense of humor taught him the value of a gift. If the gift is given from the heart with genuine care and love, it can be anything. Thank you sweet Ran for the scrubbed enormous Idaho potato wrapped as only a man can wrap.
Randolph was a faithful husband and friend with a gentle and quiet soul. Randolph and Peyton loved going to Cold Spring, New York where they enjoyed eating blueberry pancakes. This always kind and gentle man treated everyone equally. No pretenses. From sunrise to sunset, Randolph LIVED his favorite Bible Chapter I Corinthians 13. This was his heartbeat. He said, "There are those who say they believe in Jesus and those who do." Thank you for loving us well. You are my sweetest hello and my saddest goodbye.
Special thanks to his caregiver Patrice Moore, his faithful friend Joe Gribbin, Sr., Childhood friend Bob Mcosker (Tucker, GA) and the generously loving, kind community of friends at the Brookhill Condominiums.
