A graduate of Phillips High School (Class of 1960), he was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Rice, Sr. and Virginia (Creel) Rice Vanbrabant.
He is survived by his sister, Joan (Rice) Patton (husband John Patton), brother Rick Rice (wife Debbie (Towers) Rice), and many dearly loved nieces, nephew, great nieces and long-time partner Kerry Hill.
He worked many years as a graphic artist for several companies including Mercy Home for Children and
LM Berry for the Birmingham Yellow Pages. He later entered into management in the food and beverage industry, for businesses in Birmingham, Atlanta, and Chattanooga.
Never truly abandoning his artistic talents, he was recognized for his Holiday decorating of the homes of local prominent citizens, party/event planning, cake decorating skills and baking, and his elaborate bowmaking talents creating what were affectionately known as “Buddy Bows.”
Per his wishes, there will be no services, only a private family celebration of his life with his ashes to be spread at a later date.
He will be dearly missed by his family.
Lived his life his way.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsvalleychapel.com for the Rice family.
