Sara Ann Certain Hymer, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on May 11, 2022. Mrs. Hymer, daughter of the late Lionel Certain and Ursuala Swindell, was born in Huntsville, Alabama on September 18, 1928. She attended Rison High School in Huntsville, graduating in 1946, and later attended Nashville Business College. She was employed by the Huntsville City School system as an administrative assistant for many years. Mrs. Hymer was married to Glenn M. Hymer for sixty-nine years prior to his passing in 2016. Mrs. Hymer was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church for fifteen years. Her hobby for the last thirty-five years of her life was spending time with her grandchildren who she loved “to the moon and back” as she was so fond of saying.
Mrs. Hymer is survived by her sons David and Ralph Hymer, both of Birmingham, and their spouses Hope and Buffie, as well as her five grandchildren Gregory Hymer, Sam Hymer, Elizabeth Hymer, Bailey Hymer, and Anna Hymer.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain Brook Baptist Church on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Mountain Brook Baptist Church or to the Big Oak Ranch.
