

Sara Hoffman Robinson departed for the next world on December 5, 2015. She was born at her grandparents’, Walter and Frances Hoffman, home in Waverly, AL on April 14, 1916. She and her parents, Roy and Florence Hoffman, moved to Augusta, GA in 1920 and to Birmingham in 1930. A graduate of Ramsay high School, she attended Birmingham Southern College, Brenau College and the U of Iowa where she founded a chapter for her sorority, ZTA.
Always a leader, she held several offices in the Civiettes Club, Inc. and worked with children at the Cerebral Palsy Center. She was Chairman of the Women Volunteers for the first Cerebral Palsy National Telethon. She was co-chair for the next two years; and, served on the board for many years. She received the Lib May Award in 2009 for outstanding service to Civiettes.
President of Vanguards, supporters of the Birmingham Symphony. Member of Independent Presbyterian Church; and Board Member for the founding of Kirkwood by the River; member, Birmingham Country Club. Charter member of the Endowment Builder’s Society of Birmingham-Southern College.
In addition to her charitable activities, she found time to express her creativity in many ways, including painting, refinishing and refurbishing and designing and making clothing for her grand-daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed D. Robinson, Jr., She is survived by her daughter, Leigh; son, Ed (Bee) ; grand-daughter, Lisa Cefalu; grand-son, Dexter Campbell (Melissa); grand-daughter Amie Wright (Kelley); grand-daughter, Laura Montgomery (John); seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Teas; three nieces and three nephews who will always love and miss her. She set a wonderful example for all of her family; and embodied the foundation of all virtues – trustworthiness – which showed in her loyalty and honesty in all of her affairs.

There will be a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Friends and family will be welcomed at the home of Ed and Bee Robinson.
