Robert Lister of Vestavia passed away on March 28, 2020. Robert was born June 1, 1938 in Pell City, Alabama to the late Mabron Lister and Elizabeth Cosper Lister. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Vera Hanna Lister, his daughter Lynn Lister Eckert (Bruce) and his daughter Hanna Lister Porter. He is now reunited with his late daughter, Leslie Lister Vines (and John). Also, he is survived by his five grandchildren, Bruce Eckert, Jr., Robert Eckert, Hanna Eckert, Winston Porter and his twin sister Sydney Porter, brother Tony Lister (Anne), and nephew Greg Lister (Shelley)
Robert grew up in Birmingham graduating from Ramsay High School and Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Management. He served in the 20th Special Forces Group and later served in the United States Air Force. He went on to earn a private pilot’s license. Robert became a successful business man starting four companies along the way.
Robert’s family was his true love and his first priority. He had many great friends, and he was loved by all. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the current national health crises. Donations in his memory are welcomed at The Big Oak Ranch, P.O.
