Stephen “Steve” Lamar Cain Sr, 73, of Mountain Brook, Alabama passed away comfortably at home on April 29, 2025 surrounded by his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry V. and Marjorie V. Cain, and his older brother Michael Cain. He is survived by his son Stephen Cain Jr., daughter Elizabeth (Bryan) Reynolds, and three beloved grandsons Cole, Pierce, and Shepard Reynolds.
Steve was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where he graduated from Mountain Brook High school in 1969. He went on to attend Jacksonville State University, followed by studying business administration at Auburn University. After Auburn, he took part in a sheet metal apprenticeship program at Local 48 in Birmingham. Steve soon became co-owner of Hinkle Metals & Supply where he worked for the remainder of his career until retirement. He was also a long time member of The Country Club of Birmingham.
Steve had a love for music and enjoyed spending time in his workshop at home, where you could always find him building something. He had a passion for fishing that took him across the United States and to several international destinations, many trips with close friends and family created memories that will last a lifetime. He had a very giving spirit and constantly supported local charities and organizations.
