

Tom joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and became a B-24 Bomber Pilot with the 15th Air Force. In 1945 he completed 35 missions in the European Theater and was awarded the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He went to Mississippi State University and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He then moved to Birmingham and worked with Rust Engineering for 23 years.
A member of Canterbury United Methodist Church and the John Wesley Class, Tom loved his church, his family, fishing, golfing gardening and trips to the beach. He was very adept at any and all skills and hobbies that interested him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Leland B. Curtis, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Hunter Curtis; 4 children, Donna C. Boren; Thomas L. Curtis (Linda); Kathryn E. Damron; and David B. Evans (Terry), and grandchildren Alan Boren (Robin), Lindsay Day (John), Taylor Curtis, Haley Curtis, Miles Curtis, Paul Damron (Debbie), Mark Damron (Beth), Kinsley Evans and Hannah Evans; Brother, Dr. Knox M. Broom and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 6 with visitation in the church parlor at 10:00 and the memorial service at 11:00 in the Chapel of Canterbury United Methodist.
