Walter Lowe was born March 5, 1935 to Vardell and Edna Earl Lowe in Pickens County, AL and passed away peacefully at his home in Vestavia Hills, AL on February 9, 2020. He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Carol Lynn Lindquist Lowe, daughter Bari Lowe Alexander (Tim) of Birmingham, son Shawn Lowe (Jennifer) of Birmingham, daughter Jaime Lowe Tolbert (Tyler) of Birmingham, Grandchildren Lindsay Alexander Chandler (Austin), Hannah Alexander, Hayden Alexander, Lillie Alexander, Maggie Lowe and Stroud Lowe. Great Grandchildren Mason Alexander Mims, Nora Chandler and Elizabeth Chandler. Walter grew up in Kellyton, AL and graduated from Benjamin Russell High School in 1953, he graduated from The University of Alabama in 1957 where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After college he served in the United States Army for 2 years. He spent most of his career in medical sales with Durr Surgical Supply Company in Birmingham. He was an avid fan of Alabama football, baseball, and basketball. He was a private pilot and spent many hours flying his Cessna 172 Skyhawk N20652. He was a long time member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. Upon his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, serving his church in multiple areas including Pastoral Care, The Food Pantry and the Drive Though Nativity at Christmas time. Funeral services will be in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Wednesday February 12, 2020. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am. A celebration reception with the family will immediately follow in the fellowship hall. Rev. Mark Cushman will lead the service. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
