

Dr. Warren Wright Kent Sr., age 94 of Birmingham, was born in Siluria, AL on August 8, 1922 to Roy and Gladys Kent. He is preceded in death by his wife Hilda Kent and his son Warren Kent, Jr (Lynne). He is survived by his daughter-in-law Carla, his son Jim, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Thompson High School in Birmingham. Hoss served in the United States Air Force in World War II as a B24 tail gunner. He graduated from Auburn in 1952 earning his DVM, and practiced veterinary medicine for fifty-one years. He served as president of the Alabama VMA, was a member of the Auburn Veterinary Alumni Advisory Council for over twenty years, and served as the first veterinarian for the Birmingham Zoo. Hoss was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club. He was a devoted member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church for many years. Funeral services for Dr. Kent will be Saturday, January 21 at 1:00pm at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, with a preceding graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery at 10:00am. The family will receive friends at MBBC following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
