

He was born an Army brat to Robert E. Goble and Mary Elizabeth Tipton Goble, on April
23, 1947, in Hamilton, Ohio.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Linda Wood Goble. He is also
survived by daughters, Leigh Powell (Andrew) and Paige DeBoer (Taylor), and three
grandchildren, John DeBoer, Claire Powell, and Emma Powell. Surviving siblings include
Myron Goble, Loave Todd, and Paula Goble. He is also survived by two nephews, Steve
Goble and Max Todd, and their families.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert &
Mary Elizabeth Goble, and brother Bruce Goble.
After graduating from high school, Wayne enlisted in the US Army, graduated from the
State Department Foreign Service Institute, and served in Vietnam as an
Interrogator/Translator. For his service, he received the Army Commendation Medal.
Upon his return to the States, he married, started a family, and graduated summa cum
laude from the University of Georgia. Wayne worked as a market research and
advertising executive for nearly 30 years in the magazine industry for Progressive
Farmer, Southern Living, and Bassmaster Magazine.
Wayne lived a full and rich life. Known for his many travel adventures, he delighted the
most in visiting remote and off the beaten path places. In addition to being an avid
traveler, he was a postcard sender, an amateur bird photographer, and a fan of Motown
and 70s rock music. He was also an anonymous and active advocate of random acts of
kindness.
There will be a graveside service at Alabama National Cemetary, Montevallo, AL on Thursday,
November 14th at 11:45 a.m.
Instead of flowers, Wayne would likely hope you will offer an unexpected and unsolicited
act of kindness for some poor and unfortunate soul.
Wayne will be deeply missed.
