

Barbara Jean Lawson, 76, of Homosassa, passed away on Wed., Aug 22, 2012 at her home. A native of Barre, VT, she was born July 31, 1936 to Frederick Paul and Irma (Blodgett) LaValley and moved to Homosassa in 1975 from Safety Harbor, FL. In 1976, Barbara and her late husband Doctor Jenkins “Jay” Lawson established Rainbow Lanes, a Citrus County landmark in the bowling community. In addition to bowling center proprietorships, her professional life also included her position as bank teller with Brannen Banks for 15 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Homosassa and also servied her country as a Private in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1957.
Barbara is survived by three children; Ted Lawson and wife Zelda of Dunnellon; Jewel Aardema and husband Jim of Land O’ Lakes and Jerri Moser and husband Jamie of Taylor, MI; brothers Harold LaValley of Homosassa and Fred LaValley of Syracuse, NY; sister Beverly of St. Petersburg; grandchildren Amber, C.J., Jaye, Spring, Sarah and Carlene and great grandchildren Allison, Christopher, Heather, Matthew, Courtney, David, Jazmyn, Siera, William, Joseph and Malachi. In addition to her husband Jay Lawson, who passed away in 1991, Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by a sister, The Late Ruth. The Funeral Service of Remembrane will take place on Sat., Sept. 1st at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Homosassa, 10540 Yulee Dr., Homosassa with Pastor Alan Ritter officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa Springs. Friends will be received at the church form 11:00 AM until the time of service.
