Charles G. Barker, 91, of Lecanto, FL, passed away Sat., Oct. 1, 2022 at Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto. A native of Hackettstown, NJ, Charles was born June 2, 1931, the only child to James and Carrie (Deats) Barker. Mr. Barker served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954, and upon his discharge had attained the rank of Culinary Specialist Third Class Petty Officer. Charles was a professional butcher for Grand Union and A&P Supermarkets up north, then continued his career as a butcher at those stores in Key West and Miami, as well as a period with Star Market in Wellesley. Mr. Barker, along with his wife Flora, was a rockhound for 50 years and pursued his beloved hobby with employment at the Orange Blossom Hobby Shop in Miami. Charles’ perfect day would revolve around cutting and cabbing stones until his hands were sore. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Flora G.
