
Danny Blake Stevenson died Thurs., December 30, 2010 after an extended illness in Homosassa, FL. He was 62. Danny was born in Homestead, FL on Jan. 20, 1948 and lived for many years in Auburndale, FL.
He was a graduate of Auburndale High School and St. Petersburg Junior College. At Auburndale, he was a member of the Marching Band, Dixieland Jazz Band, Chorus, Tennis and Golf Teams. He was also a member of the Lakeland Symphony and Winter Haven Pops orchestras.
Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Germany. While in Vietnam he was a LRRP/Ranger in the Americal Division 23rd Infantry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Auburndale, FL and the Pasadena Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg, FL. He was a musician in the contemporary church orchestras of Pasadena Presbyterian Church and Garden Crest Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg. Danny’s passions were music, art and fishing.
Danny was preceded by his father Blake H. Stevenson. He is survived by sons; Sammy of Bronson, FL, Danny Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL and Billy of Homosassa, FL., daughter Amanda of Homosassa, FL., grandchildren; Calum M. Stevenson and Aurora C. Stevenson; Mother; Elizabeth Stevenson, former resident of St. Petersburg and now Tallahassee, FL., and sisters; Dawne Sutherland of Tallahassee, FL, Patricia Gingrich of Monticello, FL. and Katherine Woodward of Melbourne, Australia.
A Memorial service will be held at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, on Wednesday Jan., 5, 2010 at 11am. Inurnment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.wilderfuneral.com
