Edith (Edie) J. Dunn, 84, went home with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born in Trenton, NJ in 1933 to Henry West Johnson and Alice Young Johnson and graduated from Rutgers University, after which she and her husband William moved to Upper Burrell, PA. There she taught English at the Burrell High School for many years. She was a busy mother and was actively engaged in helping with farm activities as well as canning and freezing for her family. She was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights where she led the deaf ministry with signing. Her first priority was serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel with all she met. She was a role model and dear friend to many. In her retirement years she lived in Homosassa, FL and was an active member of Suncoast Baptist Church. Her ministries there included playing a clown at local nursing homes, volunteering at the sour kitchen and serving at The Sanctuary – a home for troubled girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Dunn and her son, Dr. Robert Thomas (Bob) Dunn. She leaves behind a brother, Henry Charles Johnson of Hendersonville, NC, a daughter, Lorrie (Dave) Dozier of Plano, TX, a daughter Kathy (Sean) Irvin of Travelers Rest, SC and a son, Dr. William (Donna) Dunn of Rochester, MN. Also her beloved 12 grandchildren; Tiffany (Travis) Foster, Dr. Christy Lee, Heidi (Martin) Quayat, Faith (Dave) Foelber, Rachel (Phil) Zhang, Spencer Dunn, Bryson Dunn, Brittany Dunn, Brandy Dunn, Brinley Dunn, Brianna Dunn, and Brayley Dunn, as well as 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She will always be lovingly remembered by her friends and family for her infectious laugh and love of others as well as her boundless energy and enthusiasm for life and her adoration of the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Even in death, she chose to serve others and donated her body to the Mayo Clinic Medical School for the advancement of education and research. A memorial service will be held at Suncoast Baptist Church, 5320 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa, FL 34446 on May 19th at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Suncoast Baptist Church or to The Sanctuary, 7463 W. Grover Cleveland Blvd., Homosassa, FL 34446.
