Clay Spencer, 82 of Homosassa, FL died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Cypress Cove Care Center under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born on October 16, 1929 in Detroit, MI and moved to Homosassa 19 years ago from Shelby Township, MI. He retired from General Motors after a career as an Automotive Designer/Engineer. He was a former member of St Paul’s United Church Of Christ of Warren, MI and a member of the First United Methodist Church Of Homosassa, West Citrus Elks Lodge, Sugarmill Woods Country Club, honorary of Michigan Masonic Lodge and a veteran of Michigan National Guard.
Clay is survived by his wife Joan R. Spencer of Homosassa; son Jeffrey Spencer his wife Barbara of Shelby Township, MI; daughters Pamela Cater her husband Richard of West Olive, MI and Carol Spencer her companion Bill Kerr of El Cerrito, CA; step-daughters Renee Brooks her husband Kevin, Shari Haroldson her husband Tom and Jackie Lindsey; brothers Chesley Spencer of Victoria, British Columbia, Phillip Spencer of Howell, MI and Jack Spencer of Detroit, MI; sisters Dorothy Betcher, Eleanor Clarke of Toronto and Rose King of St John’s Newfoundland; grandchildren Evan and Clayton Spencer, Chris and Russ Cater; several step-grandchildren.
A celebration of Clay’s life will be held 1:30 pm, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa.
