Harold Austin McDonald, 88, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at his home under the care of Vitas Healthcare. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Clarence and Selma McDonald. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara A. McDonald. Harold served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and was honorably discharged. Upon retiring after 30 years in the automotive business, he moved from Pensacola to Homosassa, making that their home. He loved his family, listening to piano and instrumental music, and watching FSU football and NASCAR racing. Harold was preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Dowling. Mr. McDonald is also survived by a brother, Terry McDonald (Glenda); daughters Cindy Appleby (Barry), Cathy Koenig (Charlie) and Kelly Carrier (Tim); son Wayne McDonald; stepson Dozier Dowling; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Harold's family will have a life celebration at a later date.
